The Art of Letting Go

By Adiya Israel (House of Officer Job)

Forgiveness, the act of forgiving or being forgiven, such a challenging task for our people to do and even harder for some repented sisters. For every minute of anger, you lose 60 seconds of happiness. Forgiving each other is commanded of us and it is what we want for ourselves from The Most High (TMH) God . Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. We must now ask ourselves how can we do either (forgive or be forgiven) unless we learn to let go?

Sometimes, we don’t recognize the baggage we still are holding onto from our past life. Baggage that allows our insecurities to offend others or let us to become easily offended. Baggage filled with lost rust, disappointing relationships, and even self-hate. This baggage, although well tucked away (we think), seeps out in our speech, actions, and body language. Offending less must be the goal Sirach 17:25 Return unto the Lord, and forsake thy sins, make thy prayer before his face, and offend less. Not bearing any grudges James 5:9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

Being able to let go is one skill that we all MUST possess and there is an art to it:

Step 1: Prayer and fasting, those things that are most hard for us, decide you will give it to TMH having Faith Matthew 17:20-21

Step 2: Apply the scriptures, we are commanded to forgive. Matthew 6:14-15

Step 3: Examine yourself, we are to die daily to grow in our walk 2 Corinthians 13:5, 1 Corinthians 15:31

Step 4: Congregate, we can not do it alone and righteous examples are key. Hebrews 10:25

Step 5: Change our actions and speech, Colossians 4:6
